Chris Brown brings mother to court
Chris Brown brought his mother to a court hearing in Los Angeles yesterday.

He is locked in a dispute with prosecutors over a community service order as part of his probation for assaulting ex-girlfriend Rihanna in 2009.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office has accused him of misreporting which days he did his work. His lawyer, Mark Geragos, will fight any attempt to have Chris do another 180 days of labor.

A probation violation hearing has been set for July 15, which Chris will have to attend.

He is still under a criminal battery investigation after an altercation outside a studio with Frank Ocean earlier this year, even though he did not press charges against him. He is also being investigated for an alleged hit-and-run incident in Beverly Hills last month.

Paris Jackson expected to be released from hospital Friday
Paris Jackson is expected to be released from California's UCLA Medical Center by Friday.

She is expected to make a full recovery after cutting her wrists with a kitchen knife and ingesting Motrin pills last Wednesday.

She is eager to attend her cousin Taj's wedding Sunday at the Jackson family's Encino, Calif., compound.

Rear slap gets ex-NFL star C. Johnson 30 days jail
Former NFL star Chad Johnson was sentenced Monday to 30 days in jail for a probation violation in a domestic violence case. A judge angrily rejected a no-jail plea deal after Johnson playfully slapped his attorney on the backside in court.

Johnson, known as Chad Ochocinco for his jersey number in Spanish during his playing days, had reached a deal with prosecutors calling for community service and counseling instead of jail.

The prosecutor said she would tack on an additional 3 months' probation because Johnson failed to meet with his probation officer during three previous months.

"Is there something funny about this?" Judge McHugh said, slapping the plea deal document down on her desk. "The whole courtroom was laughing. I'm not going to accept these plea negotiations. This isn't a joke."

Johnson tried to apologize and insisted he meant no disrespect.

He was on probation after pleading no contest to head-butting his then-wife, TV reality star Evelyn Lozada, during an altercation last August. She quickly filed for divorce.

He has been undergoing therapy to help people involved in domestic violence but has not signed with another NFL team.

Howard U. to ‘Close within 3-Years’ Claims Trustee
Historically Black Colleges and/or Universities have been a valuable source of education for African American young people as well as many others.

Howard University has long been called the “mecca” of the HBCU’s.

Renee Higginbotham-Brooks, vice chairwoman of Howard’s board of trustees, told the Chronicle of Higher Education the university is in “genuine trouble” if something isn’t done to reverse financial trouble.

She wrote a scathing 3-page report on changes in the management of the university through its board of trustees.

Higginbotham-Brooks in her letter spoke of the financial difficulty as an impending crisis that will snowball.
