5 Songs for Valentine's Night

By Kyle McCann

February 14, 2017

It is Valentine’s Day! So, happy love day to you and yours. Of course, February 14th also means it’s time to “close your eyes, make a wish, and blow out the candlelight… for tonight is just your night.”

We’re celebrating with our 5 hip hop and R&B love-making jams that you could throw on tonight to help… close the deal. Check ‘em out:

5. Beautiful (2003), Snoop Dogg featuring Pharrell
The beat, the hook, the flow, the lyrics… this song has it all. It also proved Snoop has a sweet side. Of, course, Snoop’s shown more of that tenderness over the years – kind of what happens when gangsters get older.

4. “I Need Love” (1987), LL Cool J
They didn’t call him Ladies Love Cool James for no reason. LL Cool J’s surprising hit was the first track that showed off what would become LL’s signature style. It also set the standard for future sappy rap ballads.

3. “I’ll Be There for You / You’re All I Need” (1995), Method Man featuring Mary J. Blige
Tical was already one of hip hop’s greatest debut albums regardless, and the original version of “You’re All I Need” was an anthem for anyone in a strong relationship. But adding Mary J. Blige to the remix made this track go from great to legendary.

2. Nice & Slow (1997), Usher
You could probably put on any Usher song, really, but this one has something extra smooth about it. You know what, just throw on My Way and let the night go where it may!

1. I’ll Make Love To You (1994), Boyz II Men
No need to explain this one. You want to get lucky? Just put this on loop and talk to us tomorrow.
